Recap: MBS Sunday Brunch for Mar 20

Our topic this week was classic films we would like to rewrite and/or re-enact to include spanking. Here are your responses.

Serving B: I cannot think of a specific movie, but there was something about Barbara Stanwyck that I always found appealing. She was such a strong leading lady, in both film and television, that I think I would very much have enjoyed spending some time across her lap.

OnHerKnee: As a spanker I think McLintock. There's lots of spanking in that classic flick. I can't think of any as a spankee.

Michelle Carlyle: There was a Saint episode that totally caught my eye as a kid. Roger Moore he spanked a very spoiled twenty-something. As an adult, I'd probably go for the Thin Man movie where Nick spanked Nora. I can't remember which one it was.

Six of the Best: Thank you, Bonnie, for honoring me, as the question of the week. My personal favorite movie would be Roots of Heaven. In it, an elderly gentleman spanks Madame Orsini, the big game huntress who wishes to kill elephants needlessly. The gentleman most embarrassingly raises Madame Orsini's dress, and upon her bare bottom delivers solidly 12 good spanks in front of all her friends. For me, this spanking scene, was a big turn on.

Prefectdt: There was no spanking in the 1945 version of The Wicked Lady, but I would have liked to have been spanked by Margaret Lockwood. She was just so harsh in that film. I would have been in an extra scene, where she offers the stable hand (that being me) the choice of a good thrashing or having her tell lies about me to the master, which would have have resulted in me losing my job and home.

Emily Winters: I favor Gone With the Wind, a Hollywood production with British leading lady Vivian Leigh. Rhett's line, "You should be kissed and often, and by someone who knows how," should have read, "You should be spanked and often and by someone who knows how!"

It's one of my favorites. I know it is trite, but yes, Scarlett O' Hara, spanked by Rhett Butler. If anyone deserved it, it was she. And it brings to mind our own little bedroom play. Nigel as a Yankee soldier and me as a recalcitrant southern spy... Mmmm... Thanks... I think I have somewhere to be... Oh, yes, my costume closet!

Newport's Sub: My choice would be to be spanked by Emma Peel from The Avengers. The way she overpowers men is a turn-on and all that leather... Wow.

Hermione: Elizabeth Taylor in National Velvet should have been spanked for being silly enough to risk her life riding in the Grand National Steeplechase. Mickey Rooney also deserved a paddling for encouraging and enabling her.

Raven Red: It would be more a television series, Bonanza, with Adam Cartwright (Pernell Roberts) being the spanker.

I LOVE the spanking scene in the episode "Woman of Fire." Uncle Nick actually posted this on his blog just for me.

Uncle Nick: I'd choose Clarke Gable, without a doubt. In my dreams, I am that man!

Dr. Ken: I'm tempted to say, "None of them." Hollywood movie spankings are just too damn short for my liking!

Oddly enough, I would NOT pick McLintock. I'd rather use my hand on Maureen O'Hara's lovely bottom than a coal shovel.

If I had to pick one, I think I'd be Elvis Presley in "Blue Hawaii". That young lady deserved a good spanking, and since the scene faded out while the spanking was still going on, I can mentally pretend that it lasted as long as I want. :-)

Simon: There are some great answers and I too would have enjoyed being spanked by Diana Rigg as Emma Peel, being over her leather clad lap would have been delightful. I can just imagine her ordering me over in that beautiful voice of hers.

Anon: I prefer Trouble in Carson's Gap. It's a recent spoof western. A protesting Erica Scott is hauled over Steve Fuller's lap, and her long skirts tossed over her back for several hearty spanks to be applied to her old fashioned bloomers. Then despite further protests, down come the bloomers to her ankles, and as she squirms, wriggles and yells, a really prolonged sound spanking is applied to her shapely bare bottom, which goes on for some eight minutes, leaving it glowing red. I'd like to be Steve!

Ronnie: There's no spanking, but Casablanca is my choice. It's one of the best films of its era. I imagine being Ingrid Bergman and being spanked by Humphrey Bogart. :)

Cara Bristol: These are very interesting movie selections. Most are classics rather than current movies and the actors/actresses are from a bygone era as well.

Bonnie: I would wish to be a Bond girl, like Jill St. John in Diamonds are Forever. That film needed a good spanking and Sean Connery was just the man to deliver it! Yum...

Our Bottoms Burn: Bacall says she would want to be Scarlett and be spanked by Rhett. Knowing Bacall's limits and how much Scarlett needed to be spanked, she just might have gone out on the limb a little too far.

Come to think of it, I would really like to tie in to Scarlett myself. I see a play scene coming up. Oh Bacall...

Thanks, everybody, and see you next week!

Recap: MBS Sunday Brunch for May 10

I hope everyone enjoyed a peaceful and joyous Mother’s Day. Our topic was favorite spanking films. Here are your thoughts.

Hermione: A movie called "If..." starring Malcolm MacDowell came out in the early 70s. It takes place in a boys' private school, and there is a very realistic caning scene that's worth watching. The three boys being caned by the prefects are all older teens - not children - and they are taken into the gymnasium one by one and given six strokes each. All except Malcolm, who gets about twice that number. The three victims get their revenge in the end (of the movie, that is).

Daisy: I have never seen any actual movies... not even "Secretary!"

I have seen some spanking clips, but they usually seem very, ummm... contrived. These clips have NEVER tempted me to buy the full length version! So I can't help, sorry!

PK: It may be an oldie-goldie, but I have always loved "McLintock." It has humor, anticipation, and John Wayne as the spanker. What's not to like?

Zille Defeu: I love "McLintock!" There is no real reason for that spanking. They just wanted to work it in somehow!

My Master suggests that "Young Winston" has "a certain amount of brutal caning."

YouTube has an excellent collection of clips of spankings scenes from movies from the 20's, 30's, through the 90's...

But there is nothing like "Secretary," when it comes to spanking. I hope it inspires more movies!

Spanker R: I always like the scene in "Tank" where Jenilee Harrison gets spanked with a belt. The southern sheriff wearing the big white hat make a good authority figure. Nothing is really shown on camera, but in 1984, my imagination was pretty good.

Meow: Here’s an old, old movie: "Reap the Wild Wind." Ray Milland spanks a feisty Paulette Goddard (I think). Plus, it has a giant octopus. I love movies with a giant octopus in them!

Jean Marie: I think the movie is named, "Live, Nude Girls," and in it, Dana Delaney is bent over a table, her skirt is raised, and her (or a body double's) pantied bottom is hand spanked by a Godfather-like character in front of a lot of Mafia-types. Gary Marshall plays the don. She enjoys it.

In "Exit to Eden," S & M is foolishly depicted. Dana Delaney plays the head dominatrix wearing leather harnesses.

It all made me wonder if spanking was a criteria for Dana to choose her film roles. It all made me want to meet her.

I've never seen spanking wonderfully portrayed on a major film. I soooo want to.

Graham: There's a brief paddling scene in "Dead Poet's Society," and there's also lots of paddling in "Dazed and Confused," but it's as hazing rather than discipline. Those are both M/M. For M/F, there's a really cute scene in the Czech film "Cutting It Short" where a beautiful woman is spanked by her husband in front of a group of onlookers.

Prefectdt: I recall a film called “Walk All Over Me.” I can't remember whether there was any actual spanking in it and it was not that brilliant a film. It was OK in a "It's a rainy Sunday afternoon and there is nothing better to do" kind of way, but it was by no means a movie milestone. I recommend this one because it is about people who happen to be kinksters having an adventure (being caught up in the hunt for a criminal’s money) rather than concentrating on the kink alone. It was kind of refreshing to see a mainstream film that showed kinksters as people who have other concerns (real people at the end of the day) rather than just a bunch of weirdos, dribbling from the corners of their mouths, who cannot concentrate on anything else. If only a capable studio team, with a nice big budget, would make another film following this pattern.

Dr. Ken: Most mainstream spanking scenes are so short that it's hard for me to recommend any of them! "McLintock," of course, comes to mind with the two spanking scenes. I also like the spanking scene in the old movie, "Look For The Silever Lining."

Perhaps the best bet would be to buy the "Cinema Swats" series of DVDs. The clips are of mainstream movie spankings – without having to sit through the movies to see them. On the internet, I'm very partial to the videos that the "Punished Brats" site posts.

Kate: I think the title of the movie might be “Heaven Help Us” or something to that effect. Donald Sutherland is a priest brother and Matt Dillon, Mary Stuart Masterson, and few others of that time period are in it. It’s boys Catholic school stuff. ‘Nuff said.

Fanny: There is a video called "The List" that is available to download for free at a blog called Marks and Stripes. Even though it is an amateur video, Hubs and I think that it is very good.

Anon: The music video "Hear My Name" depicts two singers who take men and women over their knees and spank them across the seat of their skirts, dresses, pants, panties and underpants. You can view it on YouTube.

Todd and Suzy: “McLintock” is a classic. You can't go wrong with that one. “Tank” is a favorite too. The show Californication also has a great spanking scene in it. If you want to see *spanking* though, I’m not sure watching an entire movie is worth the effort, no matter how good the spanking.

There are several excellent spanking video companies. Punished Brats is a good site with somewhat lighter and more playful spankings. Firm Hand is a nice middle ground... and then as the name suggests, you can find harder spankings at Dallas Spanks Hard (though certainly not mean or brutal).

You can also check out Cinema Swats (cinemaswats.com) which offers DVDs with several dozen spankings scenes from mainstream movies and TV.

Jim: Here are some favourites of mine:

“Frank & I” – A severe caning is administered to the seat of a beautiful woman, dressed as a boy.

“Fetishes” – This documentary is set in a NYC BDSM establishment. There is a wonderful scene where the lovely Maria Beatty is soundly caned across her scantily clad bottom.

The above-mentioned Ms Beatty's film, “The Elegant Spanking,” is worth checking out too.

Cheryl: One of my favorite spanking scenes (sorry... I can't seem to pick an absolute favorite) is "Look For The Silver Lining,” in which the very handsome George McRae spanks the gorgeous June Haver (Mrs. Fred McMurray). The set up is good and the scene is cute and realistic.

I also like "Blue Hawaii", where Elvis spanks the bratty Jenny Maxwell. It’s a classic.

Bonnie: There are many fine suggestions here, but in terms of mainstream films, I still have yet to see the perfect spanking portrayal. “Secretary” is probably the closest, but I have issues with Lee’s depiction as a fragile, recently released mental patient. This characterization seems to suggest that a normal, healthy woman wouldn’t enjoy an erotic spanking. We know that is simply not the case.

If there are any budding screenwriters or film makers out there who are also spankos, I challenge you to show our kink as it really is. It’s not weird or exotic. It’s just a fun expression of love (or at least lust!) between two capable, complex, three-dimensional adults.

If we step over into specialty films, there are lots of good ones, including those mentioned here. Shadow Lane has been a pioneer in terms of creating spanking stories that are appropriate for couples to watch together. Punished Brats, Real Spankings, and Dallas Spanks Hard also seem to do a nice job, although their themes tend to be primarily disciplinary.

Thank for all of the excellent suggestions, and we hope to see you again next week!

Recap: MBS Sunday Brunch for August 10

Our topic for this week was favorite spanking stories, fables, myths, or movies. Here are your thoughts.

Ms. Betty: I choose the Princess Bride, or the beginning of it, anyway.

I've never been the same since the first time I heard Westley whisper "as you wish."

It still makes my toes tingle...

Fanny: I have always wanted to write a different version of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." Can you just imagine how it would be for her to be the submissive to SEVEN men? As a psychologist, I realize the story was told in preparing a young woman for what her "duty" was in the world. It’s a story that illustrates the woman's tasks and the importance of learning them in puberty. However, it has always held a deeper meaning for me, and even though spanking is not in the story itself, I'm sure that in answering to seven men, Snow White wasn't always the perfect submissive. She had to be disciplined at some point in her life with them. Ah, the twists and turns a kinky and devious mind can take! Enough to make a girl wilt!

Daisy: I love the film "The Iron Maiden. It’s about a steam traction engine that gets damaged by an American lady who acts throughout like a spoiled brat until the very English owner snatches her up and throws her over his knee for a spanking. This shocks the life out of her, and needless to say, they eventually fall in love.

If I found any other film containing spanking I would love it. Unfortunately, I don't get to watch movies very often! The Quiet Man contains references to spanking, but it never actually happens... disappointing! Little House on the Prairie was my introduction to spanking, but that was children. When I was a child, I was terrified of the thought of spanking, even though it fascinated me. Apparently, True Grit contains spanking. I must try to get hold of a copy! Has anyone got a list of good films? ;)

Paul: I suppose Goldilocks would have been my first dream of spanking. If ever a girl was a brat and needed a spanking, it was her.

PM Duo: I've always been fond of the I Love Lucy episodes where Ricky pulls Lucy over his knee and spanks her!

Hermione: The movie version of St. Joan, George Bernard Shaw's play about Joan of Arc, had a moment that resonated and has stayed with me. It is the scene where Joan is bound to the stake and the fire is lit. The close-up of Jean Seberg's face, full of anguish and pain, defiance and resignation, struck a chord.

Joan was certainly a dominant and determined young woman, strong enough to lead an army to victory. Yet she was also submissive: to the voices that instructed her, to her king, and to her captors.

Radagast: The Gor books by John Norman really get to me in a generally kinky way rather than in a directly thematic one. They are poorly written and full of bizarre and, frankly, misogynistic philosophy. But the notion of someone being taken away from this world and put in another where they are forced to submit sexually is a fantasy. Lots of Victorian erotic fiction has the same theme, but the destination is often the "Near East" rather than another planet.

PK: I have to put my vote in for John Wayne in McLintock. First of all, who wouldn't have wanted to be spanked by John Wayne? There are two good spanking scenes in the movie, but that last one, wow, it does hit all spanking buttons. After pushing and pushing, Maureen O'Hara's character realizes he is going to whip her butt as soon as he gets his hands on her. Her flight through the town, knowing what is coming, is priceless! Something else that adds to the movie for me is that later in an interview, O'Hara said that in each take it was a real spanking. He was holding nothing back and was enjoying himself immensely!

Terpsichore: Only the stories in my head that have been with me since childhood :-)

P.S. - I love the movie Princess Bride too... I’m a hopeless romantic I am afraid

luvbunny: I really like the Secretary because, of course, there is a lot of spanking and that movie is very hot.

I love the way she was willing to submit to him and she even let him control her eating habits.

D: I think of Donovan's Reef. It's one of my top five favorite movies with one of my favorite men, John Wayne. To me, he is the definition of a "man's man." I’m a Navy brat and my dad was in WWII, so John Wayne movies were a requirement in our home.

I was born a year before this movie came out (1962), so I can’t tell you the first time I saw it. My guess would be age five or six. What I do know, is that it influenced me quite a bit. I think it’s my first memory of being aroused sexually.

The romantic interest in the movie is a strong woman character who is smart and beautiful, but still has a feminine side. I admired her so, and she was the type of woman I wanted to be.

And what do I remember most? The spanking scene at the end of course! At the time, I thought it was one of the most romantic, thrilling scenes I had ever witnessed. A strong man, taking in hand a strong woman, as she finally submits to him completely and willingly. I longed for a man to do the same to me. I’m sure my vanilla friends would exclaim, “How could a spanking scene be romantic?” Until now, I had to keep that little feeling to myself, but not any longer!

Weasel: The author whose work most affected me concerning women being submissive (or not, and the consequences they incurred) was Sharon Green in both her "Jalav - Amazon Warrior", and "Terrillian" series. Her heroines dealt with offworlders and dominant men. The "Gor" books were too much, but Sharon's characters portrayed independent women being brought to heel by men from otherworldly male-dominant societies.

Greenwoman: I think my mind goes to all of the bad girl character images that were around when I was a kid. Lucy in Peanuts springs to mind rather rapidly. She was sassy to the point of being acerbic and she was mean too. If anyone needed a spanking it was Lucy. I always thought Catwoman needed a spanking and I even ached to spank the Roadrunner. He was just so... untouchably irritatingly teasing. *grins*

Little Red Riding Hood comes to mind as one that's full of that D/s erotic interplay between the predator/trickster in the innocuous costume which springs up to consume the innocence of the little girl.

Now I think of it there's a lot of potential spanking moments in Gone with the Wind and in the Wizard of Oz.

In more modern times, Secretary has become so popular and I too find it fun to watch. Mr. and Mrs. Smith, is really rather violent and not at all my idea of reality, but it has something appealing in terms of letting all barriers to my aggressive nature out to play ...and that movie amuses me in relationship to it. Besides, who doesn't want to watch Brat Pitt and Angelina Jolie roll around in an aggressive prelude to rutting sex? LOL!

Marcus: I am drawn to the Mord Sith of Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series. To me, they are the epitome of dominance in fantasy, though not necessarily reality. At the same time, they submit to their Lord Rahl of Dhara. Their attire is brown, white, or red leather. All of which are worn skin tight. Gloves and boots are also worn as part of the uniform of a Mord Sith. As for their hair, it is long and kept in a single braid down their backs.

Mord Sith are trained with an agiel, a magic red leather rod capable of causing excruciating pain. The agiel is another aspect of submission as its magic is bound to their Lord Rah, who they are sworn to protect at all cost.

Overall, I think that Goodkind weaves dominance and submission into his works fairly well. However, I do find the torture aspect of the Mord Sith to be disturbing in many ways. Goodkind has an answer for this, though. Richard Rahl abolishes the torture the Mord Sith have to go through to become Mord Sith.

Prefectdt: As far as fairy tales go it has to be the one called "Cinderfella" that bounces about in my head.

After being systematically abused and beaten by my evil, yet attractive, stepmother (who looks surprisingly like the dark haired Veronika, from Punished Brats, in black dresses and dark red lipstick), my fairy godmother turns up and well you know the rest. The difference is that in my version, my ugly stepbrothers get killed in a midnight coach chase (with me driving my pumpkin number 7 racing coach) around narrow mountain roads while we are exchanging shots from those lovely late 18th, early 19th century smooth bore pistols (well, I am a bloke :-) ). And when the princess finally claims me as her own, she makes it clear that when she becomes Queen she will be in charge and I will be Prince consort and not king. To make sure that I get the point, she introduces me to her well equipped palace punishment room and her darkest dungeon, just so that I know what the consequences will be if I get too big for my boots.

As far as films go the idea of Susannah York as Section Officer Harvey in the film "Battle Of Britain" marching around in her oh so MMMMMMM! RAF uniform, enforcing her authority with a rod of whatever material she wants to use, pushes a lot of my buttons.

Anon: I remember reading Nancy Friday's book of sexual fantasies, The Secret Garden, as a child and learning that other people had spanking and D/s interests. I stole the book out of my mother's room and it was definitely worth it! Recently, I enjoyed the Secretary.

Maryann: Little Red Riding Hood pushes my submissive buttons. The old woman who lived in a shoe spanking all of her children and sending them to bed captured my attention as a little girl. I now realize I had a fascination with that nursery rhyme. Cinderella is my ultimate fairy tale.

I love the movie version in "Ever After" starring Drew Barrymore. Her character, Danielle, is a wonderfully strong, smart, resourceful submissive. She even gets "a sound lashing" off screen, but we see the bleeding marks on her back. Another scene has her risking a punishment of five days in the stocks if caught dressing like a courtier. Of course, she does it for a noble cause; saving a man from slavery. In the end, she rescues herself from the bad guy, but then her prince is there on bended knee. He loves her for her strength of character and personality. She is no damsel in distress.

I am drawn to really strong characters whose ultimate motivation is a submissive one. Mulan, Belle (from Beauty and the Beast), and Maria from Sound of Music, are among my favorites.

My playful, bratty side appreciates Lilo (from Lilo and Stitch). She is a precious, misunderstood little brat who needs a good spanking, but her heart is pure gold.

Cookie: I have to agree that I like the Secretary movie. But I really like the idea someone had about the seven dwarfs. I will never hear that story the same now. LOL

Bonnie: There are so many influences for me. I’ve discussed a lot of them before, but I truly love Gone with the Wind. How much easier might Scarlett’s life have been had her father, Rhett, Frank, or even wimpy Ashley taken the time to thrash her bottom with a riding crop? OK, I’ll grant you that we would have missed out on some great plot twists, but this to me has always been a great injustice. She so deserved it.

I think my interest in bondage, believe it or not, started with Batgirl. It seemed as though the bad guys tied her up almost every week. Unfortunately, they never managed to do anything with her or to her, but the suggestion was there.

Anon #2: I liked the Doris Day movies and several of the John Wayne ones. Good old fashioned movies sometimes had very funny spankings.

That was a fun brunch! Thanks to everyone for sharing your memories and your inspiration.
