You Know You're Kinky When...

...When you see an innocent old ad like this and your mind immediately goes in a whole different direction.

I've always been dubious as to whether or not this particular ad is real. I mean the ad is real, I'm just wondering if someone tampered with it many years ago :) Nevertheless it gave me a big old smile this morning ;)

Your mind went exactly where the ad wanted it to go. They could get away with it back then because everyone pretended not to go there.

I'm guilty of just getting stuck on "2 fingers and a thumb" and couldn't figure out what anyone in that picture was supposed to be doing. Laughing. I finally got it! Hugs, Windy

LoL Bonnie, I was the same as Windy lol. A wooden spoon in the store isn't just a wooden spoon anymore lol

Laughing. Good to know I have company when I see something like this.

Richard - I'm old enough to remember some of the unusual appeals that advertisers used during the 1960s to appeal to the younger generation (aka Boomers). They really wanted to appear hip, and if a little risque innuendo helped that cause, so be it. I don't know whether this ad is real, but I want it to be!

PK - That sounds right to me.

Windy - Bowling was incredibly popular in the US during 1960s. Back then, every reader would have immediately grasped the direct reference, and perhaps the subtle alternative interpretation.

Roz - Yes! I have to fight back the involuntary urge to place my hands over my bottom when I spot a big nasty bath brush hanging in a store display.

AR - Oh, yeah. You're in fine company! :)

I couldn't figure out how two fingers and a thumb were helpful in a spanking, but the body language spoke volumes! Thanks for the laugh!

My mom was a bowler in her younger days, and Ron has two bowling trophies tucked away, I never advanced beyond five pin.

I think they meant for it to be taken that way!

Am I the only one who thinks the ball return machine looks a bit like a robot?

I agree with Hermione. It would just be a better ad if it said, "It's amazing what you can do with four fingers and a thumb!"

HAHAH. Bowling was NOT where my mind went first either.

When in doubt......right click the image. Click "search Google for this image" and check out the results. In this case, I just did and the original ad said something like "need some Alley-ooop?" and then suggested 7-Up as the way to get it. This "finger" one was doctored.....which in these times is all too common. However, like in all times: if it seems to be too good to be true......it probably isn't.
