Birthday

Today is my birthday. At 54, that's a mixed bag. I survived another year (though a couple of contemporaries sadly did not). My health is good. The inevitable aches and pains are tolerable most days.

I don't look like I did when I was 20 or 25 or even 30, and I never will again. If I seek to impress people today, it will take charm, wit, style, and occasionally, cunning. Guys still hit on me once in a while and I guess that's all right as long as they are respectful.

I've come to a place in life where I accept my appearance as it is. I'm not beautiful, but I can look good in a dress. Most of the sand in my hourglass figure is at the bottom, but that's always been the case. My face shows the years, but my eyes still sparkle. I'm done feeling uncomfortable about my own body. We've made peace.

I don't mind sleeping with a grandfather. Randy and I still fit together quite well after all these years. Lying against him or he against me, skin to skin, soothes my spirit. But his kiss can still ignite my passion.

I am getting wiser even as I get wider. I no longer argue about things that don't matter. I now know that we each have only so many days allotted to us. I want to spend mine as much as possible with the people and activities I love.

In years past, I wondered whether I would give up my fondness for spanking at some point in life. I'm still wondering because it certainly hasn't happened yet. Randy gave me my annual birthday spanking last weekend. It was a memorable event that combined fine dining with spectacular paddling (not simultaneously – there's no need to try to visualize that). I will record the tale when time permits.

I expect some sort of encore performance tonight. I bought a fun garment that should add some energy to the proceedings. I'd tell you more, but I don't want to chance ruining Randy's surprise.

Thanks to everyone who helped celebrate MBS's birthday at brunch. It amazes me that we have kept this going so long and met so many fascinating people. Ladies and gentlemen, spanking is popular!

Speaking of the blog, our blogroll now contains over 450 links and our membership is over 400. These numbers are important to me because blogging is first and foremost about connecting with people. If you weren't here, I wouldn't be here either.

I vow to make the coming year better than the one past - personally, professionally, and here within this community I adore. I want to promote consensual adult spanking as a safe, enjoyable, and beneficial activity for those of us who appreciate that special sting. I want to write more spanking stories and get more spankings about which to write. If I can achieve this, I will be one happy woman.

Happy, Happy Birthday Bonnie!! 54 is so young and isn't it the "new" 34?

I'd offer to sing the happy birthday song but it would probably short-circuit your computer! But the thought is there... :o)

Happy birthday! But for the first time, you've lied to us with "I'm not beautiful". We may not know what you look like, but we all can see your beauty.

Happy birthday Bonnie! That's the best thing about birthday spankings: they get longer and better as we get older! :-)

Happy Birthday! As I get older, I also appreciate the thoughts on acceptance of ourselves. And the fact that life is too short not to have the most fun we can! I'm jealous. Every single year, I've hoped desperately for those birthday spankings - one for each year. Hubby has hinted at them, but they've never come. Maybe next birthday. :)

Happy birthday dear friend. You are so right, none of us looks the same today as in days gone by, but there is charm in the changes.

We only have so many days here, so why not do what is fun and pleasurable, like spanking and blogging, for example.

I'm certain that when you start writing more stories about your spanking adventures with Randy, your followers will double. I can't wait to read them!

Here's hoping that last night made a real impact!

Hugs,
Hermione

Happy birthday, Bonnie! The place you've come to can be a hard one to get to. I think we always hope to see that 17 yr old we once were when we look in the mirror.

Have a great birthday!

Happy Birthday. 54 is very young in my lexicon and you've always been young in spirit. Glad so many, including me, appreciate you and what you do.

I'm done feeling uncomfortable about my own body. We've made peace.

Congratulations! That is an accomplishment many women never make.

Not sure if you will feel good about this, but at 64, you will see 54 as being young.

This was a beautiful post. I guess I would still be considered "young" but I'm still waiting for that moment when I feel comfortable in my own skin, especially about spanking. I admire your confidence. Have a good birthday :)
