My Madison Avenue Man-Hunk has noticed a change in TV commercials. We've long heard that sex sells and it must, or they would stop using it. But recently, Randy spotted a new trend. Commercials, it seems, are increasingly featuring fleeting shots of a woman's beautiful bottom. One has to imagine this shift is the result of scientific marketing tests which show that attractive images of women's derrières encourage people to pay attention and buy things.
I don't necessarily share that perspective, but I believe it works with a certain segment of the audience.
Here, for your viewing pleasure, are some commercials that Randy suggested as examples of this growing phenomenon:
This first one is the Ford Motor Company peddling vehicles. The key shot is at 0:07. Ford definitely got the memo because here is another example from the same campaign at 0:05. Sticking with the automotive theme, this is an older ad from Buick. Watch for bare bottoms at 0:13. Then there's CarGurus. They also buy and sell cars. There's a tight pants beauty at 0:00, 0:18, and 0:24. Can you believe that even pharmaceutical firms are using this technique to flog medication to sick people? The butt shot is at 0:34. DirecTV cross-marketed with the WonderWoman 84 film in a commercial featuring Serena Williams. But sitting on the couch amazed by it all was a woman whose ample bottom caught and held Randy's attention. Catch her at 0:04, 0:06, 0:12, and 0:51. Finally, here is Randy's favorite corporate spokesperson, Lily from AT&T. Can you see why? |
Based upon the weight of evidence, I have to conclude that he's right. Butts really do sell in 2022.

I cannot say it is new as most spankos do watch the bottoms for spankables.my favorite is the mattress commercials especially the swan pillow as the bottoms and outfits are outstanding another one is an ad for eyeglasses with an owl and she is at a fair and throwing baseball's at stuffed owls and as she throws her shirt goes up and you can see her bottom quite nicely. I have seen some others, but you are right some of those do stick out to a spanko mind. Thanks

LoL Bonnie, Randy has a keen eye. Car companies have traditionally been notorious for using attractive women in advertising, not to mention at motor sport events. I wouldn't have thought it would be PC nowdays.

"Butts really do sell in 2022"..................hell yeah, but I think you have to pay more for them. Just ask any working girl around the Javits Center in NYC. ;-)
Jim - I haven't seen those specifically, but the mattress commercials do frequently feature a curvy woman lying on her side facing away from the camera.
Roz - Apparently, what is PC is less important than what is profitable, at least until someone calls them in it.
KD - Those sort of butts have always sold well.
