Recap: MBS Sunday Brunch for Jan 23

Our topic this week was a little out of the ordinary. On the occasion of our fifth anniversary, I wondered what we might do next to keep this forum vibrant and fun. Here are your thoughts.

Poppy: I just wanted to say happy birthday! In this internet world where everything is so fleeting, your brunch has become a fine institution.

I hope you get cake and a spanking only if you want it.

Thank you. I'd happily take a spanking for the cause. But those fellows with the wooden implements worry me.

Kimmie: I love Spanko Brunch! I may not always comment, but I usually read them all. :) You're doing a great job with them. Happy 5th to the Spanko Brunch!

Congratulations to you as well, Kimmie! I was delighted to hear your big announcement. I believe your future holds lots of great spanking fun together!

Anne: Happy Birthday! I'm so glad I discovered your site. I have learned so much from you and everyone else. I'm glad you are here.

Thank you, Anne. I am glad you're here as well.

Hermione: Congratulations on five successful years of brunches, Bonnie. That's a lot of eggs Benedict and coffee, not to mention all those dirty dishes!

I enjoy rereading the oldest brunch posts, and am amazed at the number of commenters who are no longer around the blogosphere. I would like to see some of the early subjects revisited for those of us who weren't around at the time.

As for new topics, I think it might be fun to ask readers what they would do if asked to play the role they don't usually assume. How would spankers handle being spanked, and vice versa?

What a long, strange trip it's been. Thank you for all the wonderful help you provide. From hosting brunches when we're away to keeping the blogroll looking great to sharing your considerable wisdom to acting as a steady voice of reason, I feel indebted to you for your many contributions.

We did a brunch about switching once, but we can certainly revisit the subject.

Six of the Best : Congratulations on five years of “delicious food for spanking thought.” Have you ever put on your spanking menu, what the British call, “fish and chips?” This seems appropriate to celebrate, "The English Vice," namely spanking.

Thank you, Six. Yes, we have had fish and chips at brunch.

Audra: Happy anniversary! I missed most of the last five years, so here's to another awesome five!

I'm pleased that you're here now, Audra.

Michelle Carlyle: Bonnie! You rock! Thanks so much for your wonderful blog, all your great posts and all the help you've given my blog. You are an awesome, giving person, who helps all us spankos feel normal and safe. Thanks for your brunch and all you've contributed to our "secret" club. Happy Birthday, darling!

As far as your brunch discussion goes, since you have new people joining all the time, revisiting topics will generate all new conversations. I say start at the beginning five years ago, cull through your questions and do a greatest hits of topics. Plus, those that have followed you have more than likely come to new conclusions about the spanko realm and their lives.

Thanks again for all your hard work. You're the best!

I really appreciate your kind words, Michelle. I definitely get the message about recycling favorite subjects. We are going to do that.

Daisy: Yes, I agree with the general consensus. Even those who had an opinion five years ago may well have a different one, or at least more depth to their original answer since spanking relationships are forever evolving...

Could we also have one about the best tools for different situations (e.g., when you want certain effects, or results, or need a QUIET tool for paper thin walls)? I believe you have covered that before, but it was a while ago. Why not repeat the idea of the tag? I still wear mine.

Many congrats on the five year anniversary, Bonnie, and many thanks for the wise counsel, the encouragement, reassurance, advice and support you have given me, and so many others over these past years! You truly are the Queen of Spankoland, Bonnie! Thank you!

Thank you, Daisy. It's a pleasure to spend time in a community that is full of clever, resourceful, pleasant people. Operating this blog has been rewarding in ways I never imagined when I began.

I promise we will bring back some classic brunch topics.

Michael: Happy 5th Anniversary spanko brunch, Bonnie. I can't believe it's been that long. The best part is that the brunch is still fresh and special. Like Hermione, I enjoy going back and reading some of the early posts. I have no one specific moment as each brunch stands on its own, enlightening, educating and entertaining us in such wonderful ways. I toast you, Bonnie, and the fabulous work you do for our community. Here's to many more brunches.

Thank you, Michael. As I think about past brunches, I don't really have a definitive high point either. However, I imagine I will recall some highlights when I search for past topics to reuse.

Pink: Yey! I love these brunches! Having been around for less than a year, I'd love to see your old topics revisited.

Congrats, Bonnie, and thanks for all that you do here!

I can do that!

Scunge: Happy fifth, Bonnie! I've only been here two and one half years and the brunch has been immensely helpful. No suggestions from this gal, but I will faithfully come back everyday and look! :)

You will always be welcomed as a friend here.

Ronnie: Congratulations, Bonnie, on your fifth anniversary. I agree with the others who would like to see some early topics revisited. Has there been a brunch about corner time?

Thanks for being here for us Bonnie.

You're very welcome, Ronnie. Thank you for being a faithful participant. We did do a brunch on the topic of corner time back in 2007. However, given the widespread enthusiasm for reviving past topics, there's certainly no reason why we couldn't discuss it again.

RosieBee: I agree, Bonnie, you rock and congratulations on five years! I love the idea of revisiting oldies but goodies.

Have to make it short because sitting down is no longer an option for me at the moment ;)

Welcome, RosieBee! It's wonderful to see you here at brunch. I guess you're living up to that name, aren't you?

Kingspan: Congratulations, Bonnie!

The traditional gift theme for a five-year anniversary is wood, isn't it? I hope you get some good gifts. :-)

Thanks, KS. We already have every wooden spanking toy anyone could ever want or need. I refer to Randy's toy chest as “the lumber yard.” I think porcelain would be the way to go for this anniversary.

Make Mine Red: Congrats! I have to say that I'm also glad you are here. I enjoy your brunches every week too. Thanks!

Thank you, MMR. I value all of your contributions to our discussions.

Prefectdt: Congratulations on five years and going as strong as ever.

As I was not one of those around for the early days of the brunch, I would like to go with the general trend here. Getting a chance to have a go at the juicy topics that I missed, from the early days, would be a great opportunity.

That's precisely what you'll see in the coming months. Thanks for your many contributions to brunch over the years.

Anon: I look forward to visiting here most weeks, and when I can't, I come back and quickly catch up. Congrats on five years. Where I live, five years is just long enough for people to say "The building is old, let's tear it down and build again." I'm glad you are continuing with the brunch idea. I think maybe once a month, you could go back and revisit a "oldie but goodie" for all of the new folks.

Best regards, and plenty of wood in your future.

Again with the wood! Sheesh.

Bonnie: I'm sitting here this evening with a smile on my face. I appreciate everyone's generous praise. I wasn't fishing for that, but neither can I dismiss it without a grateful acknowledgment.

The other reason that I am smiling is because I've been racking my poor brain for years to find brunch topics that we haven't already used. It seemed that every time I came up with a clever idea, a quick check revealed that we had already used it. When I said I love reader contributions, that wasn't just being nice.

So here we are, 262 brunches in, and I learn that you want to bring back some old favorite subjects! You have no idea how happy I am to accommodate that wish! Stay tuned. This is going to be fun...

It's awesome that you have a big bday cake as your menu item for the 23rd considering it was my birthday too :). What a fun coincidence. (except I'm much older than 5 of course)

I wanted to thank you. Actually, I have wanted to thank you for a very long while. You have really been the one story that I have found online that has been similar to mine. Thank you for being so willing to share your stories. They have really helped me and my husband come to terms with the needs that I have. He is not spanko, but he is happy and willing to give me what I need. I am truly grateful for what you provide because he has found your stories and advice very helpful. Thank you!!
