The Blogger overlords recently unpublished forty of my older posts for community standards violations. That's about 2% of everything I have written here. They didn't take any content that I really value, but it neverthless feels like senseless vandalism.
If this is a one-off incident, I suppose I can let it go. But it wouldn't take many more such events to drive me away.

I can empathize completely, Bonnie! I was informed by my platform regulators that some of my photo content was too risque for them. They never specified where these guidelines are published. It hurt me deeply, so I know how you feel. I'm sure it is worse when it is your creative written content that is being censored. I'm sorry this happened; please hang in there and don't let the turkeys get you down; you soar, girl!
I'm sorry - that's really annoying.
Does Blogspot still have a "download all my content" function? You might want to make a backup in case they strike again.
Sorry - that was Midwest Reader on the previous comment. Different posting interface today - I'm sure that will change next week ;-)
MR - Yes, and that's a good reminder. Thank you!
Whaaaat? Unacceptable!
Erica - Yeah. The good news is they didn't eradicate any of the family jewel posts - experiences, fiction, humor, tutorials, etc.
I have a theory of why they chose those posts. If true, I get it. Most of the removed posts were brunch recap, In with the New, or LoL Day posts. I believe the common element is that these posts contain lots of links. We know that shady characters seize recently abandoned web addresses and substitute their own nefarious sites. My guess is the imperial bot army found what are now links to bad places inside some of my posts.
When they say "Community Standards," I immediately assume a rogue puritanical bot decided it didn't like something I wrote. That makes me want to scream. But if they are doing this for the public good, I'll be less grumpy.
Took a look at my old Blogger blog, after reading this. There is not much left of it. So far, I am a lot happier with WordPress.

This was a good reminder to download a backup of my blog. But, that's only a partial solution, because I think that only preserves the body of the text, so if the entire blog was terminated I'd lose almost 10 years worth of comments, drawings, etc. I've been thinking about making a switch to Wordpress. Maybe it's time to stop thinking about it and actually do it.
Prefectdt - I've contemplated that move for years, but readers are pretty well locked into my current address. If this gets worse, I may yet jump. Thanks!
Dan - You put your finger on my biggest concern. It's not practical to save everything. For many posts, the comments are more interesting that the post that inspired them. Other posts rely upon graphics. It would be difficult to move all of MBS to another platform. As of now, it's probably not worth it. But if my posts keep disappearing, I could change my mind.
Bonnie, how did you know they disappeared? I mean if some of my old post were removed would I ever know it? I've had problems trying to work with Wordpress and I could use a good tutorial on how to back up a post if you happen to have one.
That does suck Bonnie, I'm sorry this happened. I have heard of blogger doing this, I wonder what the criteria is, but I think you might be on to it with the links. What you get with modern technology, bots etc. Argh
Hugs
Roz
I agree that I wish I knew how some things get censored and things that I think should be censored stays up I had several of my posts questioned when I did Pinterest one time before I left them and I do not think anything I posted was bad and I never got any explanation as to what I had violated. When something gets censored you do feel bad as well that the effort you have made to post something that to you was not offensive to have it flagged because it did not meet some vague standard does hurt.I hope it is for why you think which might be ok,but there are some things as you said that cannot be replaced...I hope it was a one time occurrence
Jim.
Bonnie, that really sucks. I had that happen to me too, but the posts in question had zero links, and only one word of text.
If you decide to go with WordPress, you can import your Blogger blog, including posts, comments, links etc. but not the template or widgets. Here's a .
Answer for PK - Blogger sends you an email for each post they deem unacceptable.
Sorry, link didn't come through. Try again:

Who's standards, their's or our's that read the blog. I we the reader took offense to what is on the blog we would not be reading the blog. Jack
Sorry to hear that Bonnie. Totally unacceptable. I was wondering how you knew some of your posts had disappeared and I can see PK was wondering the same. Thank you, Hermione for answering.
Love,
Ronnie

PK - I knew they unpublished 40 posts when they sent me forty emails. Thanks to Hermione for answering your other question.
Roz - I don't know, but I will guess the criteria change over time.
Jim - We've seen numerous waves of censorship across platforms and decades - Yahoo, Delphi, MySpace, Blogger, Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and on and on. Over the past seventeen years, I've found Blogger to be more reliable, more capable, and less restrictive than many of these alternatives.
All of these services include provisions in their terms of service that they can remove any content for any reason. So my complaints relate more to fairness and consistent application than any legal standing.
Hermione - That's good information. Thank you! For now, I'm going to stay where I am, but I will keep my options open. I will also be more vigilant in backing up my content.
Jack - It turns out it's both. Besides the dreaded imperial storm trooper bots, readers can and sometimes do file complaints about blog content. I was once sentenced to blog purgatory over a goofy drawing that I republished to promote a friend's blog. There was no skin, just the suggestion of a spanking. But someone didn't care for it.
Ronnie - Yes, I greatly dislike this.
