“Ow!” I said when he handed me the faded snapshot. Then I spotted the source of my discomfort. Resting on my back was a 24-inch segment of orange plastic Hot Wheels track. Hot Wheels is a toy where small cars run along a configurable track. A quick check of Google reveals that plenty of other people know what it feels like to be spanked with Hot Wheels track.
A track segment is semi-flexible and has raised edges designed to keep the cars on the track. I think those edges contribute to the vivid marking. All these years later, I remember how much it hurt. It’s definitely a punishment implement.

To unlock a level you'd have to beat every previous level in order, so you'd get really good at the early levels, but even a small mistake on a later level would effectively mean you'd need to start the whole game again! The backgrounds were beautifully detailed, but I don't remember seeing any naked butts!
It is truly a testament to experience and our relative ages to not only know what a Hot Wheels track is (was), but also that they were not infrequently employed (usually by angry parents...but a kinky partner will do nicely as well) as implements of welt-production.

@kdpierre - You may be surprised to learn that Hot Wheels are still doing very well, with nearly a billion dollars in gross sales in 2020, nearly half of which were in the US. They released a new video game last year as well. Hopefully less parents are using them as spanking implements though!
I remember How Wheels, although never got close enough to a track to be spanked by it.
